When the doors of the Kilbeggan Distillery were shut in 1953, the people of Kilbeggan could have easily accepted defeat. They could have acknowledged that times had changed, and that fate had dealt them more than their share of bad breaks. They would do no such thing. The distillery meant too much to too many in the town. They would never let its smokestack be reduced to a monument, no matter what the world threw at them.
Double distilled, once through the oldest working whiskey pot still in the world, Kilbeggan Single Pot Still is a unique mash of malted barley, raw barley, and 2.5% oats that was inspired by historical recipes from the distillery’s heyday in the late-1800s. This whiskey is soft and mellow, with a fresh, fruity palate that features a light, lingering spice and a rich, creamy mouthfeel from the influence of oats.
