Description

Celebrate two centuries of Highland whisky craftsmanship with The GlenDronach Boynsmill House Edition 14 Year Old, a limited-edition single malt created specifically for the distillery's 200th anniversary in 2026.

The expression takes its name from Boynsmill House, the historic residence on the estate where James Allardice founded The GlenDronach in 1826. The release pays tribute not only to the distillery's origins, but also to Allardice's reputation for hospitality and elaborate gatherings at the house.

At the heart of the whisky is The GlenDronach's celebrated sherry-cask maturation style. The 14-year-old spirit incorporates Pedro XimƩnez and Oloroso sherry casks, complemented by a carefully selected number of Claret red wine casks chosen by Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie. The Claret influence introduces brighter berry and stone-fruit character while preserving the rich dried fruit, nuts, caramel and chocolate profile associated with GlenDronach.

Bottled at 46.8% ABV / 93.6 proof, Boynsmill House Edition opens with Highland toffee, bramble, ripe stone fruit, hazelnut and raisin. The palate develops into plush malt, dried fruit and nuts before moving toward velvety chocolate and caramel, with elegant fruit lingering through the finish.

For collectors, this release carries particular significance as the commemorative whisky for The GlenDronach bicentenary, combining a meaningful age statement, limited availability, distinctive Claret-cask influence and direct connection to the historic home where the distillery story began.

How to Enjoy

Serve The GlenDronach Boynsmill House Edition neat in a Glencairn or tulip-shaped whisky glass and allow it several minutes to open. The combination of sherry and Claret casks becomes more expressive as the whisky rests.

A few drops of water can reveal additional blackberry, plum, raisin, caramel, hazelnut and chocolate while softening the oak structure.

For food pairings, try dark chocolate, aged cheese, roasted hazelnuts, fruitcake, crème brûlée, duck with berry sauce or dried-fruit desserts.
